Current Opportunities

Marketing And Public Relations Coordinator

(unpaid internship)

Position Overview:

Sober Outdoors is seeking a highly motivated and passionate Public Relations and Event Intern to assist in public relations efforts, marketing initiatives, community engagement, event planning, and member support. This internship provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the non-profit sector while making a positive impact on the lives of individuals in recovery.

Responsibilities:

1. Public Relations and Marketing:

- Assist in developing and implementing public relations strategies to enhance Sober Outdoors' visibility and reach.

- Create engaging content for social media platforms, newsletters, and the organization's website.

- Collaborate with the team to design promotional materials and marketing campaigns.

- Monitor social media channels and engage with the online community.

2. Community Engagement:

- Build and maintain relationships with local communities, partner organizations, and stakeholders.

- Organize outreach activities to raise awareness about Sober Outdoors and its mission.

- Participate in community events and represent Sober Outdoors professionally.

3. Event Planning:

- Assist in planning and coordinating outdoor recreational activities and events for Sober Outdoors members.

- Support the logistical aspects of event planning, including venue selection, transportation, and equipment coordination.

- Collaborate with volunteers and staff to ensure events run smoothly.

4. Member Support:

- Provide excellent customer service and support to Sober Outdoors members.

- Address member inquiries, concerns, and feedback in a timely and empathetic manner.

- Assist in organizing support group meetings and peer-to-peer mentoring programs.

Qualifications:

- Current enrollment in a related undergraduate or graduate program (Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, Event Management, etc.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

- Proficiency in social media platforms and content creation tools.

- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

- Passion for outdoor activities and promoting mental and physical well-being in a recovery-focused setting.

- Previous experience in event planning, public relations, or community engagement is a plus.

Community Relations Manager

(unpaid internship)

Company Description:

Sober Outdoors is a community-based organization dedicated to promoting sobriety and supporting those impacted by addiction through the healing power of nature and outdoor activities. SO supports individuals facing various types of addiction, not just addictive and non-addictive substances. SO is an all-inclusive organization that provides support for sober and sober-curious individuals as well as their friends, loved ones, colleagues, and acquaintances.

Role Description:

This is an unpaid internship role for a Community Relations Coordinator at Sober Outdoors. The Community Relations Coordinator will assist in coordinating and maintaining community partnerships and outreach efforts. The coordinator will also work with the social media and marketing teams to prepare communication materials and contribute to enhancing the organization's online presence. This is a remote role.

Qualifications

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills

  • Experience with community outreach and partnership coordination

  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively in a team environment

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with deadlines

  • Passionate and knowledgeable about outdoor activities and wellness or experience with addiction and recovery

  • Comfortable with social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn)

  • Enrolled in a college/university program or has recently graduated
